Maison Menara

MaisonMenara-02

A quick post to give you some news about Maison Menara. This summer, with my friends living in Morocco we started a little business by making kilim bags. We sold them at my Mom’s shop in Biscarrosse and decided to continue this little adventure.

So … We restocked on our beautiful kilim bags ! We care very much about the details and do our best to make a top quality product : each bag is made with vintage kilim rugs and suede. All our bags are handmade and one of a kind. I love their bohemian style and how easy it is to wear it for all kind of occasions. You can find our kilim bags and clutches here

We also started to venture in the berber rugs world ! I literally fell in love with the boucherouite rugs and their colorful patterns. These rugs are made with scraps of fabric, handwoven by women from rural Morocco, usually close to the Atlas mountains. My friends go from village to village to source the most amazing rugs. We try to buy recently made rugs as well as vintage ones, but always look for a special spark when we see one. We want only the best, the one of a kind, the extra special ! All our boucherouite rugs are available here

I hope you will like it :)

You can find our products on Etsy.

We are also on Facebook & Instagram.

Maison Ménara

Today, I wanted to share with you the first steps of a project that I is dear to my heart. I had the opportunity to visit Morocco thanks to my best friend living there with her husband. We went to different places and I had the chance to get to acquainted with Morocco’s rich heritage of craftsmanship. This trip inspired me a lot and motivated me to share my creations and finds with a larger audience (rather than just family & friends).
With my friends in Morocco, we have created Maison Ménara, a lifestyle brand dedicated to quality material, traditional craftsmanship with an “Invitation to the Voyage” feel.
For this summer, we have selected some pretty clutches made with vintage berber kilim rugs, they are one of a kind and made by moroccan leather craftsmen. We sell them at Planète Plage, in Biscarrosse Plage.
For this winter, we are planning to expand to offer vintage and unique rugs, pillows and blankets and to open an e-shop to sell our products.
I’m looking forward to sharing this project with you and I’m happy to show you our first tiny lookbook.

PS : if you find a clutch you like, don’t hesitate to contact Planète Plage : contact(at)planete-plage.com or me : charlotte(at)thefoxandtheknife.com, we still have some pieces available ! Of course, if you’re on vacation near Biscarrosse-Plage, come see the collection live in the shop (in the main pedestrian street) !

Planète Plage

Planete-Selection-101

Today, I wanted to share a project I’ve been working on for quite some time. My mom has a shop in a small beachtown on the atlantic coast (near the Arcachon bay) where she sells home design products, accessories and jewelry. This winter, we worked together to launch her website. My boyfriend designed it and I took the photographs. But, she also wanted to be able to sell online her product without the logistics of a big eshop. So we created those mini collection that we share online, a small selection of products that we like this month. The clients can buy by sending an email ou calling the shop and stocks are very limited.
Here are the pictures of our first selection, an afternoon in the garden.

Projects for 2015

Projects-03

Just let me start by saying that I’m not a fan of New Year’s resolutions, especially when they are formulated mid-january (seems a bit lat, doesn’t it?). However, I wanted to take the chance, before we get swept up in the whirlwind of the year, to share here my projects for 2015, not really for the blog, but more what I want to try out or experiment with this year. I’m not sure I will get everything done, but at least it will be written somewhere !

Projects-01

For the Home :
– Fiber Art
Last year I became really interested in fiber art, I had a lot of DIY projects but so little time … First, this year I really want to create my own weaving. My favorites are the ones from Brook & Lyn – (a girl can dream)
I also want to make a plant hanger in macramé : see my inspiration in this Apartment Therapy article

- Dyeing
A summer project, perfect for my new garden, which is going to host an indigo dyeing session ! Can’t wait to make pillows, throws and dye vintage finds. A great inspiration will be this Calivintage post (Love this blog by the way).

- Ceramics
I always wanted to try my hand at making ceramics and my dream is going to come true. I receive this amazing Christmas gift from my mom : 4 ceramics sessions with her, at a local studio. We will do it before spring so I will be reporting about the results very soon

For the Kitchen

- Cookbooks
4 new amazing cookbooks have entered my kitchen and I really want to put them into good use. I love them all, as they each bring something new to my cooking habits.

- Perserving
One thing that every year I want to try but always miss is making pickles. When the season hits, I’m never ready and forget to buy some or let them die in my fridge before finding the recipe. But I love love pickles so this year, I will make them !

- Baking
I’m not a great baker to be honest, and aside from cookies or panna cotta, I don’t bake much. I’d like to add a few more recipe to this meigre repertoire : some hearty cakes, muffins, and fruit tarts for cosy afternoons.
