Apple Turnovers

Today, I wanted to share a really cool recipe for apple turnovers I’ve tried recently. It’s relatively easy to make and really delicious served warm with ice cream. The pictures have been taken a few weeks back, on a beautiful winter day, the light was really vibrant.
I’ve moved into this apartment a few months ago, but I don’t get tired of this gorgeous light we have every day, it makes winter and the grey days more bearable. But I think spring is coming….

Apple Turnovers
Recipe by Sydney from The Crepes of Wrath (I have just tweaked the proportions a little bit)
Pour 12 portions

For the apples
1 large or ( or 2 small ones) apple, core and finely sliced
30g of butter
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
30g of brown sugar

For the dough
500g of flour
5g of baking powder (half a packet)
60g of cold, diced butter
30g of brown sugar
180ml of whole milk with a teaspoon of lemon

For the finish
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
30g of brown sugar
1 pinch of salt

1. Preheat your oven at 200°C. Line an oven rack with parchment paper and set aside.
2. Prepare the appels : melt the butter in a pan over medium heat. Add the apples, the cinnamon, and the brown sugar. Stir well and cook for 2-4 minutes. Set aside.
3. Prepare the dough : place the flour in a bow and add the butter. Stir with your hands until the butter is pea-sized. Add the sugar. Create a well in your dough and add the milk + lemon. Stir and mix with your hands until you achieve a soft and moist consistency.
4. Place your dough on a floured surface and form a rectangle with your hands. Roll you dough on the floured surface to create a 18x25cm rectangle; Place the apples on one half of your rolled dough and fold the bare side. Seal with your hands. With a knife, cut 12 portions lenghtwise and place them on your baking tray.
5. In a small bowl, mix together the sugar, salt, cinnamon. Brush your biscuits with the beaten egg and sprinkle the sugar mixture on top. Bake for 12-14 minutes.

And Voilà !
